January 4 to January 10

Hunky took this one. I was messing around with an idea for another bloggy friend’s design.

090105_230620.jpg Elli got a flying chicken for Christmas from my friend Kenzie. You’d not believe how excited she gets about this damn thing. He’s got a tubing so you can shoot him sling-shot style and when he lands he makes the loudest, most annoying crowing you ever did hear. She gets so excited before you shoot him, she’s like a coiled spring; whining and begging you to loose him and let ‘er at him. She shoots off like a bat outta hell, then “worries” him, growling and givin’ him the what-for. When she decides she’s killed him, she gives him back so you can make him alive again, and she can kill him all over again. Was this a guess you hadda be there things? Oh, well.

My man-child. I can see the baby he was and the man he’ll be
at the exact same moment. *deep sigh*

090107_214548.jpg My niece/Goddaughter got a mirror that lights up
and says, “You’re a pretty princess!” and she was enthralled.

090110_192438.jpg This blanket is older than me. It hung on the back of my Gramma’s couch
for years and years, and now it hangs on the back of mine.
If Gramma saw all the cat/dog hair on it, she’d tsk tsk tsk me fo’ sho’.

December 28 to January 03

It was a light week in the photography department. I was working really hard on a quilt most of the week.

When I work on my sewing, very often I’ll just set up my ironing board, iron, and sewing machine in the living room. Elli quickly learned that the morning sun hits just so, and the ironing board is a great place for a nap.

December 21 to December 27

I’m getting in late because last night my Flickr plugin quit working and I was hoping it was just a little glitch. But it’s still not working. Dammit.

Anyway.

Bubbles + Jack Russell Terrier = invisible trampoline

If you look closely at her left eye, you can see the reflection of the Christmas tree

Can someone help a gal out here? I’ve played and played with my shutter speed and aperture, and I can’t get what I want out of my low light pictures. Especially since I hate using the flash. It’s so harsh and also too attention grabbing when I’m trying to get some good candids.

I’m very frustrated with my new boyfriend, Manual Mode. He’s kind of a persnickity doody head.

(Above) No flash, f/4.4, 1/2 second, and I set the ISO to 400. But the color is weird and it’s not as sharp as I’d like it to be.

(Below) Flash, f/4.4, 1/60 second… I hate how harsh the light is and how dark the background is.

What settings do you use for your low light situations?

I’m very determined to work it out with Manual Mode. Perhaps we should try couples counseling.

December 14 to December 20

This was just kind of fun because I was playing in Manual mode (I’m getting more brave!) and this is at 1/4 second.
She’s really fast. She tosses her head in the air and squeaks the ball as much as she can.

Took a walk this week and brought home a bunch of snow shots. This was Hunky’s favorite.

I spent a couple hours playing with Photoshop today… More snow shots coming on Wordless Wednesday!

November 16 to November 22

My friend’s band was playing so we went to see them Friday night. I’m still trying to figure out how to take decent low-light pictures. Here we go!

I love his expression!

I like how sharp this one is…

But I like the light better on this one…

So now I just have to figure out how to find that happy medium.

This was just an OK shot, but I was playing in the Photoshop Filter Gallery and Poster Edges made this look pretty groovaliscious.

I was playing with the shutter speed. My first instinct was to just send this one to the trash because it was too blurry. But I decided that I think the blur speaks for the motion in the scene, and I love the light. I think it’s a keeper.
