Welcome to another edition of Photoshop Phriday with your hostess, Dory!

*applause sign lights up and the crowd goes wild*

By the way, if there’s anyone out there that’s all Photoshoppy, I would love for you to join in the fun and bring Photoshop Phriday to your bloggy casa. Just let me know. Or exercise your powers of extra sensory perception. Ya know, whatever.

Anyhoo… on with the show.

I took this picture of my son, and I really liked his pretty brown eye, but it seemed lacking in “oomph”. So I decided to take my favorite part of the picture and draw complete attention to it.

Your mission today, should you choose to accept it: to change this picture from kind of a blah, color picture, to a striking black & white picture with a selected object in color.

Welcome to another edition of Photoshop Phriday with your hostess, Dory!

*kazoo chorus*

By the way, if there’s anyone out there that’s all Photoshoppy, I would love for you to join in the fun and bring Photoshop Phriday to your bloggy casa. Just send me an email. Or a stripper gram. Ya know, whatever.

Anyhoo… on with the show.

I’ve been Photoshopping all day long, and I’m about all Photoshopped out. I’ve been getting a bunch of my artsy-fartsy pics ready for print, and I’m going to put some up on Etsy and see how it goes. Here’s the set. (It’ll open in a new window and do a slide show.)

So anyway, today Photoshop has worn out its welcome, and I can’t even send it to a hotel. Truth be told, I was this-><-close to just punching it in the face.

But I could not let down Mah Peepull!

But I can cheat a little. I did this one quite a while ago. But hey, it’s new to you, right?

I was having one of those days, and this is how I felt.

I know you feel mah pain. You’ve been there. Driving the Cranky Bus.

Or, The Can’t Even Stand My Own Damn Self Bus.

I never did get around to captioning this masterpiece, though. I’ll leave that for you.

Leave a good caption in your comment, and we’ll vote on it. Winning captioner gets a 4×6 print with their caption on it. Ah, hell, anyone who wants a print gets one too.

Can ya feel the love? Kenai gedda widness?!

December 14 to December 20

This was just kind of fun because I was playing in Manual mode (I’m getting more brave!) and this is at 1/4 second.
She’s really fast. She tosses her head in the air and squeaks the ball as much as she can.

Took a walk this week and brought home a bunch of snow shots. This was Hunky’s favorite.

I spent a couple hours playing with Photoshop today… More snow shots coming on Wordless Wednesday!

Welcome to another edition of Photoshop Phriday with your hostess, Dory!

By the way, if there’s anyone out there that’s all Photoshoppy, I would love for you to join in the fun and bring Photoshop Phriday to your bloggy casa. Just shoot me an email. Or shoot a spitball at the back of my head. Whatever.

Anyhoo… on with the show.

One day I was watching a squirrel puttering around, getting ready for winter.

I have a rather strange mind (as I think I’ve already well proven), and as this little guy darted around, I started to see him like a little person.

Then an idea went bzzzzzzt POOF over my head like a lightbulb.

It was a perfect opportunity to show you how layer masks work; alas, I did not do any screen shots. The vision hit, and I just zoned in, like a woman possessed until it was done. Somewhere I lost about three hours, because it seemed like five minutes. I am ashamed.

Bad Dory. Bad.

And sorry. Well, not sorry enough to do it all over again and take screenshots. I mean, I love mah peepull, but I couldn’t possibly sit through it again. I’m bored with it. Been there. Done that. Ripped, stomped on, and then ritualistically burned the t-shirt inside a circle drawn on the ground with lizard bile .

I promise, another edition, I’ll show you layer masks. They’re really not as scary as you might think, and one of the most powerful tools in Photoshop.

For now, just enjoy the eye candy.

November 16 to November 22

My friend’s band was playing so we went to see them Friday night. I’m still trying to figure out how to take decent low-light pictures. Here we go!

I love his expression!

I like how sharp this one is…

But I like the light better on this one…

So now I just have to figure out how to find that happy medium.

This was just an OK shot, but I was playing in the Photoshop Filter Gallery and Poster Edges made this look pretty groovaliscious.

I was playing with the shutter speed. My first instinct was to just send this one to the trash because it was too blurry. But I decided that I think the blur speaks for the motion in the scene, and I love the light. I think it’s a keeper.
