If Bureaucrats had to work a week at a Mission or a homeless shelter, and met hurting people firsthand, the budget would look very different, indeed. This war is costing America 435 MILLION a DAY. I couldn’t agree with you more. My husband is in social work, and he works at a Mission. Here we have a political organization that has traditionally stood for small federal government, states rights, and keeping the government out of your back pocket. They've inexplicably teamed up with a group of people that want to legislate your marriage, your healthcare decisions, and your right to choose whether or not to have a child. I find it horrifying that the Republican Party is standing by the "Defense of Marriage Act". I wonder how far they will go in defining a solemn vow between me and My God. It's a thinly-veiled hate campaign and the "separate but equal" civil union compromise is another bunch of crap. Government MUST leave it up to the individual and the church. While I cannot agree that abortion is a viable alternative to birth control, I remain a pragmatist. Until we can ensure that all children will be provided for, we cannot in all good conscience, illegalize abortion. And don't give me that "There are ten families waiting for every adoptive child" crap. They're in line for a healthy, blue haired, blonde eyed infant. I should know. My wife and I have been looking to foster adopt and we've been flooded with the desperate. *Pant pant* Rant ends.
